The film starts with MI6 agent Bond and another agent,Eve(Naomie Harris) chasing a mercenary named Patrice(Ola Rapace),who has stolen a highly valuable computer hard drive that contains the names of every agent undercover in terrorist organizations.During a fight with between Bond and Patrice on a train,Eve from a distance is ordered by the head of MI6,M(Judi Dench) to take the shot at Patrice.Eve accidently shoots Bond, and he falls into a river assumed dead while Patrice escapes.
Bond has "retired" using his supposed death to disappear, but when cyberattacks against MI6 and it's agents begin,Bond knows he has to come out of retirement and find the cyberterrorist who is doing this, who is actually a former MI6 agent himself who wants revenge on M for betraying him.
Javier Bardem plays Raoul Silva,a highly skilled(and very fabulous) cyber terrorist, who was a former MI6 agent.Other cast members include Ralph Fiennes playing Garreth Mallory,Chairmen of the Intelligence and Security Agency.Ben Whishaw plays Q,a characer that has actually been in 20 of the 23 Bond movies, played by various actors. The Q stands for quartermaster.
This movie is around two and a half hours, but i didn't feel it at all.The action is incredible, and the best parts of the movie is seeing Bond and Silva interacting, because they basically were the same person at one point. Also the relationship between Bond and M continues to be very well written and acted, much like it was in the last two films.
The intro titles are also very well done, with the song "Skyfall" being preformed by Adele
I do have a few complaints though. My main one is being the so called "Bond Girls".He gets a different girl in every movie and she is never seen again once it ends. The characters of Eve and Severine are not as interesting as past girls and they do not have the chemistry with Bond like Eva Greene's character Vesper Lynn had in Casino Royale, that was a relationship you could believe.Severine isn't in it all that much, and Eve...it's weird considering she is the one who accidently shot Bond in the beginning anyway, and while it probably doesn't make him hold a grudge,i just found it odd.I wanted another Vesper.
But when you think about it,the real Bond Girl in this movie is Judi Dench's character M,because she doesn't see Bond as just another agent(even if she denies it),and she is almost like a mother to him.
Skyfall,in my opinion is just as good as Casino Royale,if not better. It makes me excited for what could be in the next Bond movie, and it also makes me want to go back and watch all the old ones that iv'e never seen. This is one of the best action movies iv'e seen in awhile, and honestly,if the world does end on the 21st, i'm perfectly fine with this being my last theatre experiance, because it was that enjoyable.
