I have never been a Star Trek person.Star Wars was my series. But in 2009 Star Trek was updated in a reboot directed by J.J Abrams.I'm sure most people were skeptical seeing as how it takes place when the Enterprise crew is first formed....that would mean no Shatner, which would make anyone nervous. But once it came out,I thought it was one of the best movies of 2009.I'm sure many others did too,I was blown away by how good it was.I watched it again recently and was very excited for a sequel.Luckily a few days later a teaser came out for it's sequel,Star Trek Into Darkness. There is also a trailer out by now too.

Luckily all the primary cast members are returning,Chris Pine as Kirk,Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoƫ Saldana as Uhura,John Cho as Sulu,Anton Yelchin as Checkov,Karl Urban as Bones, and Simon Pegg as Scotty. Bruce Greenwood is also returning as Christopher Pike. The villain this time around is a character named John Harrison, played by English actor Benedict Cumberbatch. There was speculation that he was playing a character from the original series named Gary Mitchell, but this has since been denied, and it has been denied for a while that he is playing Khan from Star Trek 2(many people seem to think this because this is the second film).
Harrison looks like he may also be a member of Starfleet, there are parts in the trailer where he is wearing a shirt with the Starfleet emblem on it.Kirk and Harrison seem to recognize each other,so I bet Cumberbatch's character is holding a grudge over something.

The trailer had a really dark tone to it,which I thought was interesting.I feel like there will be the death of a main character. There is a shot at the end of the trailer when someone is putting their hand up to someone else's,but they are separated by glass. If I had to take a guess,I feel that Spock will be the one to die if anyone. He did in the original second one,but I seriously doubt Abrams will take that directly from the original second movie for his interpretation.
At first there were talks for Benecio Del Toro to be the villian and even talked with Abrams about the role, but he eventually backed out.
I hope Cumberbatch's character can be sympathetic.Sympathetic villians are always the best ones, because you can see why they are like they are.Like in the 2009 film,Eric Bana's character Nero lost his wife and his whole home planet! So you did kind of feel bad for him and understood why he wanted revenge.
I am very happy that the primary cast is returning, because they all are very good actors in their parts, especially Chris Pine(Kirk) and Zachary Quinto(Spock).I've seen some of the original tv show, and all the actors did very well at fitting the characters from the original series, they all feel like the characters at a younger age.
Also some people will probably geek out because there are Klingons http://theawesomer.com/photos/2012/12/star_trek_into_darkness_teaser_2_t.jpg
http://latino-review.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-Screenshot-Spock-Phaser.jpg As of right now, this is my most anticipated movie of 2013.It will be hard to see if this is as good as the original, because it's hard to with sequels. But Star Trek has so many possibilities in it's universe, that there are so many ideas that can be incorporated into the next film.I hope Star Trek Into Darkness lives up to my anticipation, and the anticipation of many others.
