Trailer Reaction:Star Trek Into Darkness

I have never been a Star Trek person.Star Wars was my series. But in 2009 Star Trek was updated in a reboot directed by J.J Abrams.I'm sure most people were skeptical seeing as how it takes place when the Enterprise crew is first formed....that would mean no Shatner, which would make anyone nervous. But once it came out,I thought it was one of the best movies of 2009.I'm sure many others did too,I was blown away by how good it was.I watched it again recently and was very excited for a sequel.Luckily a few days later a teaser came out for it's sequel,Star Trek Into Darkness. There is also a trailer out by now too.
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121203170032/memoryalpha/en/images/f/f0/Star_Trek_into_Darkness_poster.jpg

Luckily all the primary cast members are returning,Chris Pine as Kirk,Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoƫ Saldana as Uhura,John Cho as Sulu,Anton Yelchin as Checkov,Karl Urban as Bones, and Simon Pegg as Scotty. Bruce Greenwood is also returning as Christopher Pike. The villain this time around is a character named John Harrison, played by English actor Benedict Cumberbatch. There was speculation that he was playing a character from the original series named Gary Mitchell, but this has since been denied, and it has been denied for a while that he is playing Khan from Star Trek 2(many people seem to think this because this is the second film).

Harrison looks like he may also be a member of Starfleet, there are parts in the trailer where he is wearing a shirt with the Starfleet emblem on it.Kirk and Harrison seem to recognize each other,so I bet Cumberbatch's character is holding a grudge over something.
http://img2-3.timeinc.net/ew/i/2012/12/06/Star-Trek-Into-Darkness_510x317.jpg

The trailer had a really dark tone to it,which I thought was interesting.I feel like there will be the death of a main character. There is a shot at the end of the trailer when someone is putting their hand up to someone else's,but they are separated by glass. If I had to take a guess,I feel that Spock will be the one to die if anyone. He did in the original second one,but I seriously doubt Abrams will take that directly from the original second movie for his interpretation.

At first there were talks for Benecio Del Toro to be the villian and even talked with Abrams about the role, but he eventually backed out.

I hope Cumberbatch's character can be sympathetic.Sympathetic villians are always the best ones, because you can see why they are like they are.Like in the 2009 film,Eric Bana's character Nero lost his wife and his whole home planet! So you did kind of feel bad for him and understood why he wanted revenge.

I am very happy that the primary cast is returning, because they all are very good actors in their parts, especially Chris Pine(Kirk) and Zachary Quinto(Spock).I've seen some of the original tv show, and all the actors did very well at fitting the characters from the original series, they all feel like the characters at a younger age.

Also some people will probably geek out because there are Klingons    http://theawesomer.com/photos/2012/12/star_trek_into_darkness_teaser_2_t.jpg

http://latino-review.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-Screenshot-Spock-Phaser.jpg               As of right now, this is my most anticipated movie of 2013.It will be hard to see if this is as good as the original, because it's hard to with sequels. But Star Trek has so many possibilities in it's universe, that there are so many ideas that can be incorporated into the next film.I hope Star Trek Into Darkness lives up to my anticipation, and the anticipation of many others.

Movie Review:Skyfall

James Bond is back. This film's relese date is to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series, beginning with Dr.No in 1962.The James Bond character is in his 23 film, titled Skyfall.Daniel Craig is playing the MI6 agent for the third time, first was in a sort of reboot in 2006's Casino Royale, and it's direct sequel,2008's Quantum of Solace.I was blown away by Casino Royale,i was so impressed with how good it was.Quantum of Solace,I had mixed feelings about, and it partly could be because I had high expectations from the first movie. Now we have Skyfall.....

The film starts with MI6 agent Bond and another agent,Eve(Naomie Harris) chasing a mercenary named Patrice(Ola Rapace),who has stolen a highly valuable computer hard drive that contains the names of every agent undercover in terrorist organizations.During a fight with between Bond and Patrice on a train,Eve from a distance is ordered by the head of MI6,M(Judi Dench) to take the shot at Patrice.Eve accidently shoots Bond, and he falls into a river assumed dead while Patrice escapes.

Bond has "retired" using his supposed death to disappear, but when cyberattacks against MI6 and it's agents begin,Bond knows he has to come out of retirement and find the cyberterrorist who is doing this, who is actually a former MI6 agent himself who wants revenge on M for betraying him.

Javier Bardem plays Raoul Silva,a highly skilled(and very fabulous) cyber terrorist, who was a former MI6 agent.Other cast members include Ralph Fiennes playing Garreth Mallory,Chairmen of the Intelligence and Security Agency.Ben Whishaw plays Q,a characer that has actually been in 20 of the 23 Bond movies, played by various actors. The Q stands for quartermaster.

This movie is around two and a half hours, but i didn't feel it at all.The action is incredible, and the best parts of the movie is seeing Bond and Silva interacting, because they basically were the same person at one point. Also the relationship between Bond and M continues to be very well written and acted, much like it was in the last two films.

The intro titles are also very well done, with the song "Skyfall" being preformed by Adele

I do have a few complaints though. My main one is being the so called "Bond Girls".He gets a different girl in every movie and she is never seen again once it ends. The characters of Eve and Severine are not as interesting as past girls and they do not have the chemistry with Bond like Eva Greene's character Vesper Lynn had in Casino Royale, that was a relationship you could believe.Severine isn't in it all that much, and Eve...it's weird considering she is the one who accidently shot Bond in the beginning anyway, and while it probably doesn't make him hold a grudge,i just found it odd.I wanted another Vesper.

But when you think about it,the real Bond Girl in this movie is Judi Dench's character M,because she doesn't see Bond as just another agent(even if she denies it),and she is almost like a mother to him.

Skyfall,in my opinion is just as good as Casino Royale,if not better. It makes me excited for what could be in the next Bond movie, and it also makes me want to go back and watch all the old ones that iv'e never seen. This is one of the best action movies iv'e seen in awhile, and honestly,if the world does end on the 21st, i'm perfectly fine with this being my last theatre experiance, because it was that enjoyable.

Movie Review:Wrath of the Titans

First they were clashin',now they wrathin'....

http://static.moviefanatic.com/images/gallery/wrath-of-the-titans-poster-2.jpg
This is one of those rare times when a sequel is better than the original......but i guess thats easy to do when the first movie was absolute garbage.Seriously, the bar could not be set any lower. This was a pleseant surprise.

This 2011 film is a sequel to the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans, which as i said before, not good. The first movie was just boring and the effects were very mediocre.I never saw it in the theatre,or in 3D,but from what i heard, since it wasn't filmed in 3D and the 3D was added in post production,it looked awful.

Now we have Wrath of the Titans.Sam Worthington returns as the demigod Perseus, who is now living a quiet life with son after defeating the sea monster The Kracken in the first movie. But his father, the god Zeus, played by Liam Neeson comes down to him for help.He explains that now that humans are starting to lose faith in the Gods, and are starting to stop praying, they are now losing their powers. This also means everything they did will become undone, which includes imprisioning the Titans,so now they are breaking free, and will destroy the world. So it is up to Perseus and a few others to rescue Zeus and defeat the Titans. The God of the Underworld,Hades, played by Ralph Finnes, imprisions Zeus so that their father,Kronos, who is a Titan(he't that big lava monster on the poster above) can drain Zeus's powers so he can rise again.

This is not neccesarily a good movie. It is mainly a good movie on a technical basis. The effects are very impressive, especially Kronos, that was like the highpoint of the movie. The battle at the end was fun too.Much like the first movie, this does strip down Greek mythology and make it simple just involving action and monsters. http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/wrath-of-the-titans-banner-poster-2.jpg

Some of the other cast members include Rosamund Pike playing Queen Andromeda(replacing actress Alexa Davalos from the first movie).Bill Nighy plays Hephaestus, who made weapons for the Gods.Edgar Ramirez plays Ares, the God of War who takes sides with Hades.Toby Kebbel(Rocknrolla) as Agenor,a thief who assists Perseus.Danny Houston as Poseidon,God of the Sea and father of Ares.

The best thing to talk about with this movie is the effects, hands down. The effects are what drive the movie to actually be fun.If they were bad, this could have been just as bad as the first movie.I found all the characters to not be that likeable at all,i just didn't care about them, and if i did,it's just because i like the actors(let's be honest,no one wants to see Liam Neeson die). This movie would be worth seeing in the theatre probably because of the effects.IMAX 3D sounds pretty awesome having fire thrown at you. Also there is a pretty cool scene involving a Labrynith.I was a little let down by the Minotaur when he finally comes in,he only has a small part.I thought the Chimera were cool, but Kronos and the Makhai were awesome i thought.

From what i hear,a thrid movie is being made.I don't really see a point to do one,but if it was as entertaining as this one, then yeah sure why not.Although it wouldn't kill them to have a little bit of a good story.

So if you want a visual fun fest,go get Wrath of the Titans. But if your hoping for a deep story, stay far away.

Movie Review:V/H/S

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/i/2012/06/14/vhs-poster_510.jpg

V/H/S an anthology horror film that debuted at the Sundance Film Festivel back in January. An anothology horror film means that it is a series of different stories, similar to a film like George A Romero's Creepshow.

V/H/S consists of five stories, besides the main story arch. The main story arch, titled Tape 56 involves a group of criminals hired by a unknown person to break into a house and steal one videotape. When they get into the house, they find the owner dead in his chair. As the group splits to search the house, one of them presses "play" on the tv that the dead guy was watching, the tape shows the first story, and throughout the movie,he continurs to put more tapes into the VCR and procedes to watch them.We see the tapes also.

Segment one,Amateur Night, directed by David Bruckner, involves three friends who like to party and are trying to find girls to bring back to the hotel.(By the way, this is also a found footage movie, the kid has a camera on his glasses,so we are seeing what he does. All the stories are like this) After finding some girls, one of them is very odd,and unusual. She keeps telling the main character in a whisper "i like you".Not to spoil too much, but eventually, they find out she's not exactly...human.I thought this segment was awesome. The girl was actually scary and it was freaky when she started going crazy. The end was cool too.
http://www.thegridto.com/wp-content/uploads/VHS6212012.png

The second story,Second Honeymoon, directed by Ti West, involves a couple who are staying at a hotel. Before they get there, they use a fortune teller machine that gives her the fortune "you will be visited by a loved one".Later a girl(not shown on screen) asks if she can have a ride in the morning.I'll just leave it at that. There are points when while the couple is sleeping, the person breaks im and is using the camera to look around and does make you nervous. This is in my opinion the weakest of all the stories. http://horrorhomework.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/v-h-s2.jpg

Segment Three,Tuesday the 17th, directed by Glenn McQuaid, involves a group of friends who go out into the woods together. One of them,Wendy, seems to have a plan of her own. There is some kind of monster out in the woods. She is trying to personally catch him.He is in the shape of a normal man,but you cannot see him.On the camera, there are glitches where ever he is,so he is unseeable.I thought it was an interesting concept. But a little slow,it just had too much uninteresting build up.

Story four,The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger, directed by Joe Swanburg. It has a Paranormal Activity feel to it.It involves a couple talking on Skype, and the girl thinks the house is haunted.I think this has a great twist near the end,but the story ends a couple minutes after that.Maybe the rest of the story was on another videotape. But it ends right when it started to become good.
http://torontoafterdark.com/2012/media/films/cache/vhs-img-2-425x258.jpg

The final story,10/31/98,directed by a group of filmmakers called Radio Silencd,is the best segment of the movie in my opinion. It has three teenagers going to a haunted house, and when they get there,no one is there, but they soon discover it's really a haunted house.I love how they find out too, like there is a group of people preforming some ritual on some tied up girl, and when the teens find them, they think it's a joke. The people are chanting,so the teens jokingly chant too,but once the people notice the three teens, they are not happy. Many other supernatural things happen too.I enjoyed it the most out of all the segments.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF1effrvo8s_G00uNRS2XbOnHou1OoF9yPoS0KCl6CMVDHEAwSPrMNYJcDaMActAc3SjO4BR2Gx2QJG2pmntbutjBnAMMyWzzJhg_y1YDDSt4H_cLtqTaq_ay77jOAP8cvL3dopEV7bIA8/s1600/vhs8.png

Now that i've ranted about each story (wow this is a long blog),i will say my opinion on the movie:This is a movie that's probably best as a rental.I don't mean that in a bad way either,it's a good movie to rent, especially on Halloween and just watch at your house.I think the last segment is great. The Second Honeymoon segment is the weakest. It's the only one that doesn't have a supernatural angle in it.In the case of people watching these videos, the more supernatural the better. Also for me personally,i found all the characters extreamly annoying. There is one payoff of dealing with them though, and that is that most of them die.I had to deal with them, they deserved it.

I wish the final segment was longer, because it was so amusing.I think this would work better as a whole feature film. Overall, while a good movie, even clever at points,it is overall very slow in some parts, and it really does slow the pace of the movie down.

There was no real reason to have gone out and go see this in a theatre, but if you paid rental price for it,i don't think you would be disappointed.

Trailer Reaction:World War Z

FINALLY!!!The trailer for World Waz Z was finally released. This is based off the book by Max Brooks, the son of comedy legend Mel Brooks, who seems to be a zombie enthusiast. He also wrote The Zombie Survival Guide and Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Zombies.

The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane,a worker for the United Nations. As a zombie infection begins to take hold of the world,Lane must travel and find out information about what can stop it before it is too late.Much to my frustration, this movie was going to be released on December 21st,but sadly was pushed back until June.I'm glad a trailer finally came out, because other than the announcements of Brad Pitt starring and Marc Forster(Stranger Than Fiction,Quantum of Solace) directing, there hasn't been much word on the movie lately.

From what i hear, the book has a different set up.It shows different parts of the world and what they are doing and how they are reacting. The book is more like different accounts. It doesn't look like the movie is following the same beat, but it could,Brad Pitt's character works for the UN,so he probably travels around the world. So we'll probably see it from all around the world.

There is alot of zombies. No,i mean ALOT.They are literally running over each other at super speed. But that's fine with me,i love all kinds of zombie movies.I do like that it's showing how the virus starts. Most movies seem to focus on a small group of people, sometimes midway into the apocalypse. But this trailer shows many explosions, military fighting zombies, people fighting. It looks crazy and awesome.Crazy awesome.

I am definately looking forward to this. I'm glad there is finally an update on the movie, and no update is better than a trailer. It looks like an actual war, which i want to see.Special effects look good and hopefully this is a good zombie movie, because i'm there is mot as many good ones anymore.June 21st,2013 is the release date and i am very excited.

The Evil Dead Trailer Reaction

So the trailer for The Evil Dead came out. This is a remake of the 1981 horror classic. The original and it's two sequels star Bruce Campbell and are all directed by Sam Raimi. The original involved 5 college students going to a cabin in the woods, and an audio tape releases the Deadites. The second film,Evil Dead II,takes place the next day with Ash(Bruce Campbell remaining the only survivor, and the third,Army of Darkness, involves Ash going back into mideval times to fight the Deadites.I love all three movies, they are all great. But unfortunately, seeing as how remakes are the trend in hollywood nowadays, not even Evil Dead was safe from being remade.

The remake is sort of following the same formula as the original....but there's one problem....

THERE IS NO BRUCE CAMPBELL!!!!!!!!!

Bruce Campbell's character Ash Williams was so iconic, but now he's not going to be in it,which is very disappointing to me.Although he is producing it,so that's gotta count for something. But still,it's not going to be the same without him.

The trailer that came out was a Red Band Trailer,so it's alot more violent that usual trailers. That also seems like what they are concerned about, making it bloodier. That's not always a good thing. Some things in the trailer did look creepy, like that zombie looking girl cutting her tongue and side of face with a knife. They showed a glimpse of a girl being tied up by a alive tree(which,if you've seen the original, you'll remember that controversial scene and what happens next.

That's the problem with remakes, they just want to make things more bloody and gory. But,I consider remakes good if they can do something different from the original and actually surprise me.I don't want a beat for beat movie, because than I can just go and watch the old one instead.

I am looking forward to it,because I do love the original, but I'm scared about how it's going to turn out because I want this to be good.If it's not,I'll always have the original to go back to.But I would like to see a scary movie that's actually scary. There's not alot anymore. This movie comes out April 13,2013.We'll see what happens.

The Expendables 2 Review

In 2010, a action movie came out about 30 years too late called The Expendables. The reason i saw that is because while it does star a bunch of up and coming action stars like Jason Stathem,Terry Crews,Jet Li and fighter Randy Coutour, but it also starred many of thye 80's action movie stars like Sylvester Stallone,Dolph Lundgren and Bruce Willis. Many of these actors are in their late 50's and 60's but still manage to make a dumb, but fun action movie, and now we have the sequel,The Expendables 2.

http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/expendables_2_the_last_supper-wide.jpg

The story follows Barney Ross(Stallone) and his team Lee Christmas(Stathem),Gunner Jensen(Lundgren), Hale Caesar(Crews) and Toll Road(Coutour) and newcomer to the team Billy the Kid,played by Liam Hemsworth, are forced into doing a mission for secretive CIA agent Mr.Church(Willis) to make up for failing the not doing the previous job in the first movie the way he asked.Church also sends with them another CIA agent named Maggie Chan played by Yu Nan.

While sent to a crashed airplane to find that important piece of data for Church,a terrorist called Jean Vilain(last name pun on the word "villian" obviously) played by Jean-Claude Van Damme steals it from them and kills a team member, for the sake of spoilers,i won't say which.Vilian is also in possession of 5 tons of pure plutonium that can cause alot of trouble depending on who its used on or sold to,and he is forcing villagers to work in the mines. He also has his own little army behind him.So The Expendables decide they have to take revenge. Also appearing in the movie at points is Chuck Norris who mplays Booker,an old friend of the expendables, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Trench, who is a arch rival of Barney Ross, but occasionally ally.

I don't think this is neccesarily a good movie. It has alot of problems.I thought some of the CGI explosions and blood looked really fake.I didn't mind this, but sometimes it was a little corny with one liners, like with Arnold saying "i'm back" referencing his role in the Terminator films.

The best part of the movie obviously is seeing all these different action stars from over the years together in one movie and all interacting with each other.I thought the action was pretty fun too, epsecailly the last 20-30 minutes.
http://img2-2.timeinc.net/ew/i/2012/08/06/chuck-norris.jpg

I'm glad they gave Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis more screen time and actually some action scenes, because in the first movie they have one scene, which is basically 2 minutes, then they don't show up again.I wish Chuck Norris got more time too, because he's awesome,no questions asked. There's even a joke in the movie about him being bitten by a snake, and after five long painful and unbearable days...the snake died.I thought that was funny referencing all the Chuck Norris Facts.

Overall this is better than the first, but still not great. It's a great idea, but i feel like someone could do this better. But if you just want a 80's action movie,if you still like those, with all the 80's action stars in it,then this is a movie for you.I can't wait to see what action stars will be added in the third installment.i think Nicholas Cage is gonna be in it,which is awesome.I wouldn't mind seeing a movie of all the female action stars in a action movie.

Special Game Review:Resident Evil 6

Okay,i know i usually do movie reviews but this is a special case.Resident Evil is my all time favorite video game series and the latest entry was released on October 2nd.I got it this past Friday and typically i was going to spend my whole long weekend playing it,which is exactly what i did.Overall in the main series of games, which is mostly the numbered titles, the reception to them has been generally positive or critically acclaimed. But this one, reviews are all over the place, the highest ive seen is a nine out of ten while the lowest ive seen is a two out of ten, which i think is pretty harsh. So,what did i think of it....i thought it was awesome.

The biggest criticism people seem to have is that it's not the same Resident Evil anymore. In 1996 when the first game came out,it redefined survival horror games.Since then, this franchise has had twenty three games, five live action movies, two CGI movies, novels, comics, merchandise and action figures. Some of these games are regarded as the scariest ever.Resident Evil 4 was very different, removing the iconic zombies and replacing them with infected people, along with many monsters.Resident Evil 5 was very similar to RE4,and the series has continued in a action/horror mix with Resident Evil 6.I do miss the large horror aspect that the games use to have, but i don't mind, because i care about the story, speaking of which....

The Story

This game has four different camnpaigns. You can play them in any order(except thye fourth) and each has 5 chapters, each chapter could take over an hour. Each campaign has two characters. The first campaign involves fan favorite character Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Helana Harper. The campaign involves them trying to escape the city of Tall Oaks, which has been taken over by a virus and is turning people into zombies. The developers wanted to bring some horror back,so this campaign is primarily at night and is meant to bring back the scary feelings of walking around zombie infested mansions or atreets from the previous games.

The Second campaign involves another fan favorite character Chris Redfield parterned up with a new character Piers Nivens, along with a few BSAA soldiers. This campaign takes place in China fighting a terrorist group called J'avo who have all infected themselves with the virus and can all mutate. This segment is primarily action, alot of explosions and gun battles,it feels like a Michael Bay movie.

The third campaign involves Agent Sherry Birkin(who has only previously appeared in Resident Evil 2 and was only a little girl) and newcomer Jake Muller, who is the son of Albert Wesker(primary villian of series, killed by Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5).Since Wesker had so many viruses in him and super strength, etc,Jake has antibodies in his blood that can combat the C-Virus,which has been infecting the world. This segment is mainly about action and also running away from a big monster called Ustanak.

After you beat those campaigns,a fourth involving the character of Ada Wong is unlocked, which shows what she was doing throughout the game, and she appears as more of a villian in this game.

The story is interesting and had me excited to get to the end of it.Since i have known these characters for so long after playing so many of these games i actually got nervous at points when i thought they were gonna die.My only complaint is that in certian points of the game, two characters will meet up with other two,and that will be one of the chapters. But then when you play that chapter in another campaign, your basically doing the same level over again just from a different point of view, and maybe you'll have to do something different, but it annoyed me a little, especially if it was very hard the first time.

 VISUALS/CONTROLS/CONTENT

This game doesn't look as pretty as Resident Evil 5.I noticed how some details in the levels looked uneven, like it took a few seconds for the actual graphics to settle in,so it was just blurry for a second. But when it was even,it looked pretty awesome. The controls are different too this time around. For the first time you are allowed to run and shoot in the game at the same time. The camera can be a little clunky at times too moving the camera. Also,it is easier to not have to look after your AI partner. But you can have a friend control the other person too if your playing multiplayer.Speaking of multiplayer,The Mercenaries Mode from Resident Evil 4 and 5 returns, which is fun and even more fun playing with a friend. The controls may take a little while to get use to.I died pleanty of times before getting them down, but once you do,it will be easier.

There are also emblems hidden througout the game, shooting them unlock bonus content like articles about the game or characters or you could unlock character figures or dogtags. For a cinematic experiance, there are also about four hours of cutscenes that you can watch.

OVERALL

Resident Evil 6 strives to be the biggest game in the series, and scope wise,it is,but that doesn't mean i think it's the best game. There is pleanty to like here, but there are things that bring it down a little, but not much. The original release date was November 20th before it was changed to October 2d.Maybe they could have used that time to fix those minor problems. This is one of my favorite games of the year, and im sure being a Resident Evil nerd contributes to that, but i think its definately a exciting experiance and i can't wait to see what is in store for the future of this franchise.

The Avengers vs The Dark Knight Rises

The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises were without a doubt the most anticipated superhero movies ever and they are now the highest two grossing movies of 2012.Seeing as how these are the two biggest superhero movies ever, most people have been dabating which is the better movie. There are hardcore fans of both,i know i am one.So i am going to compare them.I have chosen four main things to compare them on and i will decide which is the better movie for each catagory. These are the four catagories:Story,Action, Femme Fatale and Villian.

STORY

The difficult thing for The Avengers is that every character has had their own movie that has led up to this.So there is alot to add in for the story department to give every single character enough time on screen, but the story is sort of a typical one involving an alien invasion.Christopher Nolan on the other hand knows how to make Batman movies, and he proved it.I found a emotional attatchment to the characters in the movie,i was sad when characters died, and sad knowing that this is the end of a amazing trilogy,so for this,im gonna give the victory to The Dark Knight Rises.I do like The Avengers story too,but it didn't succeed as well as Batman's did.

Action

Like i said before,The Dark Knight Rises has a effect on more of a emotional level, there isn't that much action up until the last forty minutes. But i don't mind because i see it as more of a drama, not a stereotypical superhero movie.I see this as a superhero movie for people who hate superheros, because it can draw all kinds of audiences in.Much like Batman, the last forty minutes of the Avengers is all action too, involving superpowers, aliens and basically alot of stuff blowing up in a city.It was very awesome, and exciting,so i think the Avengers did better in this catagory

Femme Fatale

For the ladies in the movie,it is Scarlette Johannson as the Black Widow from The Avengers vs Anne Hathaway's portrayel of Selina Kyle(Her costume identy in the comics is Catwoman, but she is never reffered to as that in the movie) in The Dark Knight Rises.I think both actresses did a very good job in they're portrayels, but for the winner,i'm going withy Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle(and im not just saying that because she's my celebrity crush). Her character was more enigmatic and interesting i thought.I got excited whenever her character came back on and i was so curious to see what role she would have in the story. If they ever make a catwoman spin off,Hathaway should play her again because i think she was perfect for the character.

 http://www.filmalacart.com/storage/002_Superbabes.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1329121821938

Villian

For the final catagory, its Tom Hiddleston as Loki from The Avenegers vs Tom Hardy as Bane for The Dark Knight Rises.I think they both did great.Hiddleston looked like he was having fun playing the character of Loki and his portrayel made him the most interesting character when he was on the screen.Bane on the other hand,i found very intimidating. He is very tall, and very big,and the mask can scare anyone.Loki uses super powers and an alien army to his advantage, but he does get beat up alot. When i saw the Dark Knight Rises in IMAX,everytime Bane threw a punch,i felt like i was getting hit by him.His massive size and scary look made him seem like a more intimidating villian to me,and thats why i think he was a better villian.Hiddlestton probably had a easier time being Loki, because Tom Hardy's character had his face covered. Also his voice had to be tweaked in the audio because people complained they couldn't understand what he was saying.

OVERALL

Overall i think Batman was the superior movie. In all of these catagories,i liked the story, action, girl and villian for all of them, but this is just if i had to pick one specifically. Both of these movies have made over a billion dollars and i love them both,i think they are the greatest superhero movies ever.I think The Dark Knight Rises is best, but the Avengers is a close second.

Sequel:''Dumb and Dumber To''

Back on December 16,1994,a film called Dumb and Dumber was released. It was directed by the Farrely Brothers and starred Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey as Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas, and as the title suggests, they're pretty dumb.I grew up watching it many times over and it is one of my favorites. It was pretty successful financially too.I never watched the animated tv series because i just wasn't aware of it.

When i was still fairly young in 2003,a prequel came out called "Dumb and Dumberer:When Harry Met Lloyd".Being only eight years old,i thought it was amusing, but I saw it recently and......yeah,it's not really good, and compared to the first it's completely awful.Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey wern't even in it!Someone else can't play their characters! The Farrely Brothers didn't direct either. But now news has been surfacing of a actual sequel now.

It was announced on April 1,2011 that both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have signed on to the sequel and that the Farrely Brothers will return to direct it.Much of the holdup has been on Jim Carrey though who began to question if he should do this.Other than Ace Venture 2,Carrey has chosen not to appear in the sequels of movies he has been it.He didn't appear in Son of the Mask,Dumb and Dumberer or Evan Almighty. Those were definately bullets Carrey managed to dodge. On June 19,2012 he backed out of this movie because he felt the studios were not being enthusiastic about the project, but after some discussions between the two actors it seems that the project is back on....unless Carrey leaves again.

I'm very nervous about this movie. The first one was so good and i don't want this to fail. The only thing that gives me hope is that Carrey and Daniels are reprising their roles.Regarding the Farrely Brothers....they have made good movies like There's Something about Mary,Kingpin,Me Myself and Irene and Shallow Hal,but in the recent years,i haven't liked their movies like The Heartbreak Kid,Fever Pitch or Stuck on You.Their Three Stooges movie was only okay i thought. But this is familiar territory for them,so hopefully they can work some magic and make this better,if not just as good as the original. The film will probably be released in 2014.Fingers crossed for this to be good.

Battle Royale review

This is a movie i saw a month or two ago but i think its worth talking about, especially since the Hunger Games is so popular.

I feel bad for this movie because most people don't even know it exists. This film is based on the 1999 novel of the same name and also a manga. It revolves around 40 students forced to kill each other. The government created the Battle Royale survival program. As a group of kids were last on a bus, they wake up to find themselves in a old classroom surrounded by the military.Their teacher comes in and explains to them that they are on a island. All the students have collers on that will explode in 3 days, unless there is a winner.Every student is givin a bag with supplies and one random weapon,so one could get a gun while another gets a paper fan.So the students are sent out on the island to compete, some hesitant to kill their friends, others know what they will have to do to survive. Two of the students are also transfers, one of them has survived this before,he is a tough guy character who spends a good amount of the movie with the main two characters and the other transfer student never talks, but is a emotionless psychopath.
I feel that the Hunger Games movie and the book to a extent ripped this off.I know people who love the Hunger Games movie and when i mention this, they just claim it to be a cheap rip off. This movie kept my attention way more than that did.I also did get attached to the characters while watching it,i wanted some of them to live. The final 10 minutes had me on the edge of my seat hoping for the main characters to live, which is more than i can say for the Hunger Games movie. It's also more violent and bloody, which does have more of a impact,i don't hold that against the Hunger Games though because i know they had to go for a PG-13 rating.

I really hope this movie gets more attention, its streaming free on Netflix so i hope people notice it and i hope thats in the news more often because of the Hunger Games.Even while writing this,it makes me want to go back and watch it,and even read the book.So i highly reccomend this movie if you liked the Hunger Games or just want to see a really good movie.Hoperfully no HG fans try to kill me after this too.

Upcoming sequel:Kick-Ass 2

Some people ask "how come no one's ever tried to be a super hero?"The words of the character Dave Lizewski from the 2010 film and the comic of the same name. The film followed a teenage boy deciding to be a superhero.Along the way he gets notoriety from YouTube while saving someone from gangsters. This gives him attention from the Mob,but also the other superheroes like Hit-Girl,Big Daddy and Red Mist.

Spoiler for first film ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the end of the first,Red Mist turns out to be a traitor and the whole time he was helping his father who is the head of the mobThe father-daughter team of Hit-Girl and Big Daddy were secretly killing the Mafia members, but the Mob thought it was Kick Ass,so the mob went after him by letting the Don's son make friends with Kick Ass under the identity of Red Mist.Red Mist captured Big Daddy and Kick Ass with the help of goons and shot Hit Girl dead(or so he thought). The Mob killed Big Daddy right before Hit Girl arrived to save them.Feeling bad for her,Kick Ass agreed to help her get back at the mob.Kick Ass killed the don and all the mafia members, and escaped with Hit Girl and how they are both trying to lead a normal life....Red Mist is still alive and plans on taking revenge.

So thats where the second comic begins,Red Mist is now a villian and he is recruiting other homemade villians.Aaron Johnson will return as Kick Ass,Chloe Grace Moretz will return as Hit Girl, and Christopher Mintz-Plassen will return as as Red Mist.Nicholas Cage is said to reprise his role also as Big Daddy, but most likely to be in flashback because his character is now dead.Jim Carrey will join the cast as Colonel Stars, one of the new heroes.I have read both of these comics and I have enjoyed both very much.

The first movie was also done well.My only problems are that it's a different director, and new studio.Matthew Vaughn(X-Men:First Class) directed the first film but now it's Jeff Wadlow  (Cry Wolf),and Vaughn is definitely the superior choice. Also Vaughn's own independent company MARV released it,but now it's Universal Studios and sometimes studios push around director's and tell them what they want to see unless your a big director.Someone like Christopher Nolan(Dark Knight Trilogy) who's made the studio money, they will basically give him anything he asks for and won't question anything.Wadlow is small time though, and the comic is pretty graphic, but John Romita Jr,one of the writers of the comic, says that all the controversial stuff from the book will be in the film also.

I'm looking forword to it obviously,i'm really hoping it doesn't dissapoint because i love the first movie so much,i even have the posters of the four main characters.Yeah i'm a nerd. But anyways,it is also said that the comic writers are writing a book thats enitrely about Hit-Girl and takes place inbetween the first and second book.A comic all about her sounds like pure awesomeness.Fingers crossed for this movie to be awesome.

These are some upcoming sequels that will be released in the next year:

Man of Steel:

Man of Steel is the upcoming film in the Superman franchise.British actor Henry Caville(Immortals)is playing the title role of Clark Kent, aka Superman.Other cast members include Russell Crowe(Gladiator,American Gangster) as Jor El,Superman's father from Krypton,Kevin Costner(Waterworld) as Johnathan Kent,Superman's adoptive father,Amy Adams(The Fighter) will play Superman's love interest Lois Lane,Michael Shannon(World Trade Center) will play the iconic villain General Zod,who was played by Terrace Stamp in Superman 2.This film will be directed by Zack Snyder(Sucker Punch,Dawn of the Dead),who in my opinion is a good actor, and Christopher Nolan(The Dark Knight Trilogy)is producing,so that gives me faith in this movie being good.

Skyfall:

Skyfall is the 23 film in the James Bond franchise that stars Daniel Craig(The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)as Ian Fleming's James Bond. Now I know when teenagers think of James Bond they think of him as some silly spy from old movies and his overused quotes "Martini, shaken not stirred",but these Bond films starring Craig are actually pretty good. His first time playing Bond was in 2006 in the film Casino Royale, which I thought was a great movie. The sequel,Quantum of Solace came out in 2008,it was good, but I was kind of let down that it wasn't as good as Casino Royale.I am still impressed with how well those other two films were made,so I am excited to see Skyfall when it's released in November.

Gangster Squad:

Ruben Fleischer is directing a film about a police squad led by Josh Brolin to eliminate gangsters that are destroying Los Angeles. On the gangster's side, infamous gangster Mickey Cohen played by Sean Penn is corrupting LA with crime, drugs and murder.Other stars include Robert Patrick and Ryan Gosling as other police officers, and Emma Stone as Cohen's girl who is possibly falling for Gosling's character. This movie was pushed back to 2013 because of a scene in the film where gangsters are hiding behind a movie theatre screen and begin shooting civilians through it as seen in the upper left photo.Because of the tragedy at The Dark Knight Rises screening in Colorado, the film is going through reshooting and the trailer was pulled from screenings.Fleischer also directed the comedies Zombieland and 30 Minutes or less, which were both very funny,so he has a good record so far.I'm curious to see how he does in a serious drama.
